The reviews are in:

"This is a splendid session in which two good musical friends mine common musical ground with very similar sounds. ... From start to finish, through all eight tracks, this blend of Heavy Juice is very, very good."
Ken Franckling, All About Jazz

"The Dynamic Duo have joined forces for the first time on wax with Heavy Juice, on the Concord Jazz label. The eight-track thunderous session instantly recalls the great tenor battles of yore that have been legendary in jazz's rich history.
Stephen Fratallone/Jazz Connection Magazine

"On tunes like the uptempo title track blues and the equally animated Ammons-Stitt 'Blues Up and Down,' they play off each other with an easy familiarity, all the while creating swinging and inventive lines.
David Franklin, JazzTimes.com

About Harry Allen:

Our first artist is the award-winning tenor saxophonist Harry Allen. With about 30 CDs to his credit, Harry, the son of a big band drummer, has been immersed in jazz since he was a child. A graduate of Rutgers with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Harry started recording back in 1989 in a session with Kenny Baron. His CDs have been recognized for their excellence and have won such accolades as the Gold Disc and New Star awards. HarryÕs art has taken him to jazz clubs and festivals all over the world, and has placed him alongside such jazz greats as John and Bucky Pizzarelli, Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, and many more. His saxophone style is reminiscent of the melodic, mainstream approach of such tenorists as Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Lester Young, and Stan Getz.

About Scott Hamilton:

Scott Hamilton is one of the great mainstream saxophonists, although by giving him that label may not be doing justice to the expressivity that flows from his tenor sax. One of the great interpreters of jazz standards, Hamilton’s faultless swinging style and warm and big-sounding saxophone have produced fans the world over.
