About The Making of Jazz for the Heart:
Last year, Harry Allen and his quartet released Jazz for the Heart, the second in what promises to be a four-set series of recordings under the McMahon Jazz Medicine label. Their first effort, Jazz for the Soul, successfully showcased the tenorists mastery over his instrument, confirming his place as one of the greatest proponents of melodic jazz today. This latest work was well worth the wait.
This DVD offers a glimpse into the making of a Harry Allen masterpiece, compiling exclusive studio footage, an interview with Harry Allen by Lauren Smith, and concert footage from the launch party for the CD, featuring Harry Allens Quartet with guests John Bunch on piano and the legendary Tarrytown tenor Carmen Leggio. There is also footage from the first McMahon Jazz Medicine concert, "The Two Tenors," featuring the Harry Allen Quartet and special guest Scott Hamilton.
The Making of Jazz for the Heart is a must-have for any Harry Allen fan. And for anybody out there who is not a fan, it will make you one!

About Harry Allen:
Our first artist is the award-winning tenor saxophonist Harry Allen. With about 30 CDs to his credit, Harry, the son of a big band drummer, has been immersed in jazz since he was a child. A graduate of Rutgers with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Harry started recording back in 1989 in a session with Kenny Baron. His CDs have been recognized for their excellence and have won such accolades as the Gold Disc and New Star awards. Harrys art has taken him to jazz clubs and festivals all over the world, and has placed him alongside such jazz greats as John and Bucky Pizzarelli, Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, and many more. His saxophone style is reminiscent of the melodic, mainstream approach of such tenorists as Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Lester Young, and Stan Getz.
