About Eli Newberger:
Although an unusual instrument for a jazz recording, Newberger’s virtuoso tuba work is testament to his past as a Juilliard student and recipient of a degree in music theory from Yale. That he is also a physician at Children’s Hospital in Boston as well as a published author somehow doesn’t surprise us. The title of this CD is taken from his book by the same name, and is subtitled, "Jazz Takes on Male Character."
